Spoiler alert: if you're looking for broccoli-like hair, or if you're experimenting with your hair, or in the midst of a midlife crisis complete with bleaching... that's great, but this isn't the blog for you.

Today we're talking about haircuts to ask your barber for to look effortlessly masculine and attractive. Don't shoot the messenger; we didn't write the rules.

WHAT MAKES A MEN'S HAIRSTYLE ATTRACTIVE

To make a hairstyle more attractive, look for 3 things:

  • Let your face show balancedWe've said the face, yes. That is, generally speaking, the eyes first go to the 'whole' and then to the details, even though you in front of the mirror make the opposite journey, looking at each strand of your bangs.

  • Let the features show definedA touch of angles, straight lines, a bit of Nordic He-Man style… but without overdoing it. Now we'll develop this idea.

  • The overall effect should be natural. It should look like it wasn't overly elaborate or thought out (pay attention to the 'that'). it seems')

With this in mind, what you'll ask the hairdresser to achieve this will change, mainly, depending on the shape of your face:

THE HAIRSTYLE THAT SUITS YOU ACCORDING TO YOUR FACE SHAPE

ELONGATED

ANGULAR/SQUARE

OVAL/BALANCED

AIM

To stylize, that is, to 'lengthen' at the top more than at the sides.

To compensate 'on the sides'.

If you were born with the face of a Greek god, you can "soften" it slightly.

The majority. It's time to 'organize' and enhance.

ASK YOUR HAIRDRESSER

Shorter sides and slightly longer top, without exaggerationso that the face doesn't look "wide".

Not too long on top and not ultra shaved on the sides, so that the face doesn't look even longer.

Avoid straight, military-style lines; a longer cut that allows for fringe movement is better...

A cut without contrasts (if it's long on top, don't shave the sides. If the sides are short on top, don't get a macro-quiff).

AVOID

Volume at the sides. You'll need to visit the hairdresser often.

Very high hairstyles.

Very “geometric” cuts.

Extreme fashions that work in a photo but not in everyday life.

Okay, so with these basics covered, let's move on to level 2 where we debunk myths about things we 'do' to 'hide' that end up having the opposite effect:

THINGS YOU SHOULDN'T DO (AND WHAT YOU SHOULD DO INSTEAD) WITH YOUR HAIR

➡ IF YOU HAVE FINE HAIR

❌ DON'T DO THIS: Don't try to "compensate" for the lack of density with waxes, gels... because fine hair gets flattened, loses movement, looks like a 'rigid' helmet and, therefore, doesn't look 'natural'.

✅ DO THIS: Use light styling creams, styling lotions, or very thin pastes that provide control without stiffening the hair. The goal is for the hair to move and look more natural.

➡ IF YOU HAVE MARKED TICKETS

❌ DON'T DO THIS: Don't try to cover a receding hairline with long hair, forced bangs, or overly strategic strands. It tends to draw attention to it, and long hair tends to separate sections, making the hairline more visible and disrupting the overall look.

✅ DO THIS: In general, a short hairstyle all over the head is more flattering (remember, the overall impression is what matters). Clean sides and controlled length on top, combing the hair in the natural direction of growth. The eye perceives the whole before the details.

➡ IF YOU HAVE GRAY HAIR

❌ DON'T DO THIS: “Rejuvenate” with exaggerated contrasts (very shaved sides and excessive volume on top), because it usually looks artificial.

✅ DO THIS: Either shave it all off (on the sides) and very short on top if you want to disguise them… or show them off with pride, Yes we Canna + some targeted gray hair cover-up so it doesn't look like you're using Edding.

MAINTENANCE THAT MAKES EVERYTHING WORK BETTER

Finally; a good hairstyle helps, but The condition of the hair is what sustains it day after day. There's no need to complicate things or fill the bathroom with products, but you'll notice the difference if you invest:

  • In a good shampooaccording to your hair type.

  • In one (one is enough) fastener suitable (light if your hair is fine, more control if it is thick).

  • And, if you want to go one step further, a treatment that strengthens hair from the root.

That's why in SIWON we formulate FollicoolA smart way to keep your hair strong so that Everything else—cut, hairstyle, styling—works better. 😉
