Purposes with grounds

How many of the resolutions from the typical list we make every January have we actually kept in recent years?

2020 no
account...that there was a global pandemic... 2021 either... that things never really got resolved...

2022… is our year 🤘

In 2022 I'm going to drink less (hangovers are getting worse), I'm going to work out harder at the gym; I'm going to stop using social media at night, when I go 🔥or when I go 🥴I'm going to read, meditate - which is all the rage -, spend more time with my family, eat better, look for a new job…

We have 12 months ahead of us; a blank canvas to paint ourselves as we always wanted. However, depending on how we approach it… we may be sabotaging ourselves from the start; cheating ourselves at solitaire… and without being aware of it.

That's why today we're telling you about the typical mistakes we all make when we make lists of resolutions and how to avoid them.

1. Avoid long deadlines, set very short goals instead.

A study A recent study demonstrated the relationship between procrastination (i.e., not doing anything) and setting medium/long-term goals (e.g., I'm going to have a great body in June).

Dates that are too far in the future eliminate the urgency to act and encourage us to stall.

It's not that you lack motivation. It's that your body, since the dawn of our reptilian brain, is designed to prioritize rest over action. The motivation to flee from a chasing T-Rex is a marvelous biological weapon… but you can't rely solely on it (especially on its consistency) for long-term results.

How to combat the lack of motivation that will happen to you, just like everyone else? By always starting with habits. microminuscules (e.g., I'm going to do one push-up a day, then two, then three, then four), which is almost impossible not to do…and always celebrating it - even if it's just with a little victory dance - afterwards (because in the end we're not so different from dogs and that's how things stick in our brains).

Come on, it's about coming down to earth and making the journey by walking, step by step.

2. You are insignificant to the universe… so start thinking about yourself

We've all thought at some point about our "purpose"; our "legacy"; our "mission"... (very cinematic)...

And we compare ourselves to people we consider "successful" because they have many things (money, cars, trips, ...), they have a lot of sex, or they appear on TV and in the press.

However, throughout human history, there have been 100 trillion of men and women. Truly rich, about 2,700And truly relevant figures like Leonardo or Einstein… 100 at most (even a Tim Cook will be forgotten, just like the name of the person who invented the gramophone).

The point is: you are someone very small and insignificant in the world and in history

What a drag! you'll say…
Quite the opposite! - What liberator And empowering!

First, thinking this way helps you lower your expectations about what you consider success.

Second, if the world doesn't care about you... why not start thinking about making the person who truly matters happy? That is, yourself?

This isn't about posterity, the future, or pyramids; it's about being happy with realistic and desirable goals. It's about pursuing almost any career or hobby if it makes the people around you and yourself a little happier.

3. If the world stopped… what would you stop doing? What would you keep doing and what would you do that's new?

Have you ever thought, "What would happen if the world stopped overnight?"

Well, the world literally came to a standstill overnight in March 2020. Which gave us time to see what was right… and what wasn't. In our lives and in general.

For many, everything was wrong. Especially work and the pressure to be hyper-productive. Just last November more than 4.5 million Many Americans quit their jobs simply because they were fed up. The phenomenon is called The Great Quit.

People have had enough. Globally and personally. We're not encouraging you to abandon everything, but rather to adopt a 'rethink' mindset and return to basics. Not to assume that everything has to stay the same as last year… but to recognize that you have the power to remove some things, change others, and add new ones.

To make room for the new… often you have to throw away or move old things.

Conclusion: For 2022 we want goals with substance

Our plan for 2022 is clear: more slow-life, more looking inward, less thinking about posterity (or your boss, or your company, or that report you're about to send), less living at breakneck speed with deadlines you're not going to meet… And more chill.

If 2022 is going to bring you anything other than an ulcer or depression, let it be normal; well; happy.

Our proposed resolutions for 2022 are less ambitious and megalomaniacal. Out with the lists, the KPIs, the notebooks, and the systems they sell you on Instagram promising to change your body and soul in 60 days.

It's more than just a life attitude (as long as I'm warm...) and taking small steps day by day. What if everything fails? We'll start all over again, right where we left off, the next day. following
